Member of Tilak team awarded by „Ascent of the Year 2015“ – an award of The Czech Mountaineering Association

The Czech Mountaineering Association awards best ascents in non-competing climbing events every year.

Ascents are evaluated in seven categories (from Himalaya ascents to bouldering), the eighth category is skialpinism. Award has three grades: „Ascent of the year with a star“ is intended for historicaly outstanding achievement, which pushes up the limits of climbing on the world scale. „Ascent of the year“ is intended for achievements which could be recognized as being outstanding or excellent on the international level. „Certificate of merit“ is award for excellent achievements on the Czech national level. Ascents were evaluated by an international jury (from abroad for example J. Larcher from Italy, I. Koller and M. Heuger from Slovakia) and announced 11. 4. 2016.

Only two ascents were awarded in alpine climbing categories. The ascent of the route Bellavista by Jan Zbranek and Dušan „Stoupa“ Janák (Tilak team) was awarded as „Ascent of the year“. Bellavista is the route by Alex Huber in the North face of Cima ovest in the Dolomites. Besides the high physical difficulties (8b/c, that is 10+/11- UIAA) it is also mentaly demanding because of a poor protection by pitons. The second awarded achievement was the first ascent Inivisble line by Jindich Hudeček and Michal Brunner in Patagonia (Aguja Poincenot, clas. 7a, A1) which was awarded by „Certificate of merit“. One „Ascent of the year with a star“ was awarded to Adam Ondra for his pushing up the limits in bouldering on the world scale by his flash ascent of the route Jade 8B+.
