You know us mainly as a manufacturer of high-end clothing for climbers or the Mountain Service, but in Japan our products are mainly worn by customers in the city.
The Poutnik by Tilak collection was originally created for our Japanese business partners. And although mountain clothing is still our first priority, Poutnik is doing great job, travelling the world and opening many different doors for us to explore.

Japan is like an incubator. The outside world watches the designers there and tries to guess what will be the big thing next year. Everything happens very fast, brands come and perhaps even faster disappear. The Poutnik by Tilak collection was born out of the success of the outdoor collection for our Japanese business partners, who appreciate functionality and durability in Tilak products. So we created the urban traveller collection for them, using the same technologies and materials we use for the purely outdoor Tilak collection. We know from experience that these products are commonly used by customers for more than 10 years. That's also why we chose a minimalist design for Poutnik that doesn't look at current trends and will be just as relevant in a year, two years or ten.

But we didn't do the design all by ourselves - thanks to our collaboration at the beginning of the millennium, Errolson Hugh, the father of the now famous Acronym design studio, helped us lay the foundations for the entire collection. Serial production for Acronym was then done by us, and Errolson in turn designed clothes for Tilak. It was only logical that we developed this collaboration further in the Poutnik collection.

We have been sewing outdoor clothing for almost 40 years and we have always gone for maximum quality of materials and workmanship. Thanks to the fact that we manufacture at home in Šumperk and now also in Prostějov, we can offer our customers a superior warranty of 4 years and lifetime service directly at our company. This is a fundamental pillar of Tilak. That's why we avoid labels like "slow fashion" or "sustainable". We often see them as empty marketing. Frankly - when you see them on tons of clothes imported from Asia, they completely lose their meaning. We prefer to say that if you buy one jacket every ten years, it's always more environmentally friendly than if you replace, say, three. At the same time, we only produce as much as we can sell, and the customer often has to wait for their desired piece a couple months, or even a year. It's company policy.
Thanks to the success of the Poutnik collection in Japan, we also got to collaborate with similar brands around the world. In 2023, we've created a limited edition "Icefield Infantry" for Vancouver's HAVEN, focused specifically on British Columbia's urban/outdoor lifestyle.

Last year we joined forces with the Italian avant-garde outdoor clothing brand ROA, and together we created an unconventional outdoor collection.
